Islamic illumination Painting workshop in Cass Art Kingston

Islamic illumination Painting workshop in Cass Art Kingston

from 38.00

This is a half day workshop to teach you the painting basics of Islamic illumination. You will start with drawing your pattern step by step with free hand drawings and assisted with templates and tracing. Then you will continue with painting the pattern following the tradition of the art of Islamic illumination with gouache gold and other colours.

Taught patterns come from architecture, Qurans, manuscripts an even textile. The Islamic art history is rich and full of beautiful patterns and we will take that as guidelines and inspiration to draw and paint our own patterns.

There is a direct train from Waterloo train station to Kingston on most days, but sometimes the national rail has issues, so just double check your journey in advance if you don't live locally. Cass Art is on the high street, so you can get there earlier and get some lunch locally as well.

Supplies: Everything is already supplied, but if you want to bring your own brushes (size zero and size 3/0) you are welcome to. If you have a favourite compass you can bring that too, but if you don't have any that's totally fine because I got you covered.
